Open Week of Master Classes
On warm and sunny autumn days, with the fragrance of osmanthus wafting through the air, Anqing Foreign Language School's Junior High School Department of the east campus launched the 'Famous Teachers' Classroom Open Week' from October 20th to 24th, 2025, during which seven renowned teachers took turns to present captivating classes that were both substantive and profound, aiming to explore efficient teaching methods and promote the professional growth of teachers.
In the first place, the small classroom is connected to the big society. Teacher Ma Wei used small stories and wonderful interactions between teachers and students to let students understand that 'rules are the armor of freedom'. Meanwhile, the process of transforming 'rule of law' from a book concept into 'life wisdom' was precisely helping students build the framework of the concept of rule of law and the steps of logical thinking. Also, through analysis and discussion, students' sense of awe and recognition of the law were enhanced. Moreover, they learned to use the thinking of rule of law to protect their own growth path.
In the second place, mathematics classes inevitably involve numbers and operations. How can we make the subject more interesting? Let's take a look at the classroom of Nie Liqun. 'Rational Number Exponentiation' transforms the operation of exponents into a 'game of numerical growth'; 'Rational Number Mixed Operations' uses progressively complex examples to encourage students to pursue 'cleverness' while ensuring 'correctness'; 'Algebraic Expressions (Using Letters to Represent Numbers)' even turns the abstract algebraic symbols into 'tools for expressing patterns'. Thus, the challenges of numbers and operations allowed students to find the joy of exploration within the rigor of mathematics.
In the third place, teacher Qian Jinwen's mathematics class integrated geometry and aesthetics. From the golden ratio of ancient Greece to aesthetic designs in daily life, he led his students to discover the beauty of the golden ratio in 'the proportion of line segments'. Accordingly, in class, geometry is no longer just a single graphic representation, but becomes a series of journeys of discovering patterns. Through each derivation and drawing process, mathematics exudes its unique logical charm.
In the fourth place, words are never merely cold symbols. Instead, they can be the sweet and sour flavors of a lively life, the fragrant scents of a clear world, or the brilliant flashes of a vast galaxy. In the lesson 'A Walk', teacher Tang Xiaoxiang led the students along the path of a family's stroll, allowing them to appreciate the delicacy and warmth of family affection. The 'writing by observing the small to understand the big' technique subtly touched the hearts of the students during the analysis. In 'The Golden Flower', he guided the students into Tagore's 'world of childlike innocence', allowing them to experience the collision of maternal love and childlike innocence within the rhythm of the poem. What's more, in the composition class, the colorful life became vivid stories. On the other hand, the students were willing and eager to write, turning writing into their own private garden for experiencing life and expressing emotions.
In the fifth place, teacher Yang Ting's English class is a vivid illustration of 'grammar can also be very interesting'. Specifically, she transformed the passive voice into a 'language game'. Through carefully designed situational dialogues, she enabled students to naturally master grammatical rules. In the meantime, the vitality codes of grammar and language, or perhaps through 'topic-driven' connections, allowed students to immerse themselves in enhancing their English skills through listening, speaking, reading and writing, thus turning the classroom into a joyful planet for language communication.
In the sixth place, in the vast ocean of mathematics, functions are dynamic graphs. Teacher Wu Xiang broke down the abstract concept of functions into decision-making models in real life, and even led the students to become 'life planners'. In the process of calculating costs and benefits, he used linear functions as a toolkit to solve real-life problems. More remarkably, 'Special Topic Class - Solving Practical Problems Using Linear Functions' was a showcase of knowledge integration, allowing students to understand that mathematics is not just a collection of formulas in textbooks, but a 'golden key' to solving real-world problems.
Last but not the least, teacher Zhu Renge's English class is a 'space for the integration of language and culture'. Centered around the unit topics, the classroom teaching connected vocabulary, grammar and western culture. Here, culture and language collided and sparked, enabling students to express themselves in English during the learning process and also allowing them to understand the cultural logic and connotations behind the language. Therefore, the English class became a cultural intersection for communication in English, with teacher Zhu Renge opening the window to allow students to look towards the horizon.
In conclusion, the seven top teachers, each with their own unique style, shared the same passion for education. Teaching is endless and never ceases; it is carried out with a pure heart and a steadfast mind. What burns in their hearts is a sincere devotion, a commitment to allowing every life to shine brightly based on the growth of students. Additionally, this passion is revealed in the details, sought in the persistence, and achieved through the breakthroughs gained from experience. More noticeably, teaching is limitless, proceeding in stealth; learning is never-ending, without slackening!
